Erin Marks is one of Vancouver’s best loved oboe soloists. Since her return to Vancouver in 2002, she has enjoyed being a member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. In 2011, Erin officially became 2nd Oboe in the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
She is a busy freelance oboist, and is in great demand as a teacher. Ms. Marks earned her master’s degree in oboe performance from the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Joseph Robinson. Spending several years in New York, Ms. Marks enjoyed success as a freelance artist. Highlights include playing in Carnegie Hall and Les Miserables on Broadway. She has traveled the world playing oboe, performing in the National Symphony of the Dominican Republic, under the baton of Placido Domingo, and was the featured soloist in the East-West International Music Festival held in Leipzig, and has played in the Carmel Bach Festival in California, to name a few.
As passionate about teaching as she is about performing, Ms. Marks loves nurturing the talents of her many oboe students. Her students consistently win competitions, auditions and scholarships.
