Eric Li

Eric James Li is an active bassoon performer based in Vancouver, Canada. Eric is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance at the University of British Columbia under the direction of Ingrid Chiang, and is expected to graduate 2024. In addition, Eric has participated in masterclasses with Christopher Millard, Nadina Mackie Jackson, Julia Lockhart, Kathleen McLean, Suzanne Nelsen, and Michael Sundell. As an avid chamber musician, Eric performs regularly in woodwind quintets, trios, and double quintet projects in BC. Eric’s orchestral experiences include but are not limited to the UBC Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Vancouver Opera, and Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. Some of Eric’s notable orchestral performances include playing principal bassoon in Richard Strauss’s Don Juan with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, as well as principal bassoon in Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony with the UBC Symphony Orchestra. As a solo musician, Eric appreciates the classic bassoon repertoire such as the Weber Concerto and Saint-Saëns Sonata. Eric has been awarded numerous scholarships to fund his music degree at UBC and is the recipient of an Award of Excellence for the 2023 National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
