Class Description: A unique ensemble experience, each chamber group in Play with the Pros will consist of one member of VAM's faculty, where you can enjoy the benefits of mentorship and collegiality that come from performing with a professional musician. Class time to be scheduled at the mutual convenience of students and teacher. Students wishing to register for fewer than 16 classes per semester must have permission from the teacher. Class Time: Thursdays, 7:00-9:00pm, bi-weekly
This class offers a supportive environment to practice and hone voice audition skills. Perform audition repertoire for your peers in an exploration of interpretation and presentation, receive guidance for head shots and resume formats, and obtain feedback on repertoire choice for wide ranges of companies, Young Artist Programs and competitions. Culminating in a live mock audition for a panel of professional musicians, this course will help bridge the gap between graduation and a professional career.

Class Description: Discover text setting, harmony, and storytelling while exploring unique and compelling voices within the popular medium in this introduction to the art and craft of writing songs. The class includes writing exercises, listening, and analysis of songs in addition to ongoing presentation and discussion of students’ work in a supportive class environment.
