Brenda Campbell

Brenda Campbell has been a very active pianist in Vancouver since 1992. She is in constant demand as an accompanist for instrumentalists and singers, and maintains a busy teaching schedule. She has been the accompanist for many masterclasses given by international musicians, including Steven Isserlis, Raphael Wallfisch, and Desmond Hoebig. Brenda is often heard in recital with her husband, cellist Brian Mix, and has played in Vancouver, Victoria, the Sunshine Coast, and interior BC. Along with Brian, she had the honor of a piece dedicated to her by the late Jean Coulthard. Brenda has also adjudicated piano at music festivals, taught music theory, and has written articles about composers and music for younger listeners for the Vancouver Recital Society. Brenda studied with Lorraine Toljanich and Melinda Coffey before completing a B.Mus. degree at UBC, studying piano with Douglas Finch, vocal and instrumental accompanying with Rena Sharon, and voice with James Fankhauser and David Meek. Brenda has completed two Artist Residences at the Banff Centre for the Arts, and has also received instruction from Gilbert Kalish, Laurence Lesser, Eric Wilson, Tom Rolston, and Dennis Simons, among others.
