Originally from Calgary, Ashley Plaut joined the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s second violin section in 2009. Formerly a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Ashley has appeared with many orchestras including l’Orchestre Metropolitan, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Ashley has also participated in numerous summer festivals including the Pacific Music Festival, Breckinridge Music Festival, and Spoleto Festival Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, she has had the distinct pleasure of performing with musicians from across Canada, the USA, and Europe.
Ashley was introduced to the violin at the age of four through the Suzuki Violin Method. She holds a Masters of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts where she was a student of Shmuel Ashkenasi, and a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University where she studied with violinists Yehonatan Berick, and Denise Lupien.
A passionate music educator, Ashley has been faculty member at the Vancouver Academy of Music since 2014.
