Julie Begg

Originally from Scotland, Julie Begg (F.T.C.L., L.T.C.L., L.L.C.M.) began her musical training at Napier University in Edinburgh. Her education continued at Trinity College of Music, London where she studied clarinet with John Stenhouse and saxophone with Chris Gradwell. In the UK, Julie freelanced as a clarinetist and saxophonist in for many years, performing in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and West End musicals, before emigrating to Canada.

Julie is currently a freelance clarinetist playing principal clarinet with Lions Gate Sinfonia and second and bass clarinet with Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. She is an extra musician with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and a core member of Erato Ensemble. Julie also performs regularly as a soloist for Health Arts Society and with Wind Song Trio and Trio Primario.  She owns and manages Accent Music Studios in North Vancouver and is the music director for Rising Tide Beginner Band and Accidental Jazz Band (both adult community groups) on the north shore.

Julie is a passionate educator and is in demand as a clinician working both independently and for VSO Connects along with Long and McQuade and Tom Lee education departments.
