Harp Fest

VAM’s Harp Fest is Vancouver’s most vibrant harp extravaganza, featuring professional harpists and award-winning students sharing the stage. Presented by the Vancouver Academy of Music, this concert is free admission. Whether you’re a harp enthusiast or a parent hoping to broaden your child’s artistic horizons—this is an event not to be missed!

This year’s highlights:

  • Special guest, Rita Costanzi, who is the teacher and mentor of our Harp Department Chair,  Dr. Joy Yeh, will perform a heartfelt solo of Liszt’s Un Sospiro and Renie’s Contemplation
  • A teacher–student duet with Rita Costanzi and Joy Yeh, featuring Gary Schocker’s (of the New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra) evocative piece Snow, as well as the beloved Spanish Dance from the opera La Vida Breve
  • Six VAM harp faculty members joining Rita in a lively performance of Brahms’ Hungarian Dance
  • Two rising stars: Kaitlin Hui (Orpheum Prize winner) and Charisma Chow (selected player of Focus on Youth from the World Harp Congress), both tackling two highly virtuosic showpieces such as Ginastera’s Harp Concerto and Tournier’s Lolita la Danseuse
  • K-Pop piece Demon Hunters Medley, with award-winning student Hanna Li will join the ensemble in an exciting performance of Baroque Flamenco
