Summer School of Swing

Instructor: Ellen Marple
Recommended for: Ages 10+ with at least one year of playing experience
Class Times: Fridays, 4:00-6:00pm
Per Lesson Fee: $20.00 per class
Class Description:
The Dal Richard's School of Swing is a unique and welcoming program that brings together young to young-at-heart musicians, as well as new to experienced players, to explore classic big band repertoire.
Over five weeks the Summer School of Swing will explore a variety of accessible repertoire for a small big band, focusing on various big band styles and an introduction to improv.

Chamber Music – Session 1 (July)

Instructor: Andrew Dawes (Chamber Music Institute director), Joseph Elworthy, Amanda Chan
Recommended for: Ages 10+, RCM 6+, Suzuki 4+
Class Times: July 11-15, Monday-Friday, 11:30am-12:30pm (5 classes)
Per Lesson Fee: $20.00 per class
Class Description: With a little more available free time, summer is a perfect opportunity to explore and enjoy the joys of playing chamber music. Whether it be a string quartet, piano trio or countless other configurations, find out why chamber music is best described as a conversation between friends.

Class Description: VAM’s acclaimed Orchestral Training Program lets its hair down for the summer to explore a mix of classical and pop repertoire including music by Aaron Copland, Paul Dukas, James Horner, and Henry Mancini.
