Ju Dee Ang

Originally from Singapore, Ju Dee Ang enjoys being an active
freelancer and teacher in the Vancouver area. Ju Dee regularly plays
as an extra musician on viola with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra,
and has also played with many orchestras and smaller ensembles around
Vancouver, including the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra and
Vancouver Island Symphony. In addition, Ju Dee performs as second
violin with the Pro Nova Ensemble, which has had a regular concert
series on the north shore for over 30 years.

Ju Dee has been teaching the violin and viola since 2007, and has
experience teaching a wide variety of ages and levels, as well as
preparing students for exams and festivals. As part of her Master’s
degree she studied violin/viola pedagogy with well-known pedagogue
Mimi Zweig at Indiana University, and has incorporated many of Mimi’s
methodologies into her teaching. Ju Dee has also been a regular
sectional coach for Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Ju Dee completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the guidance of
Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte quartet at the University of Wisconsin,
where she was a member of the scholarship graduate string quartet.
Previously, she completed a Master of Music degree at Indiana
University, where she studied as a fellowship recipient with Atar Arad
of the Cleveland string quartet. As an undergrad, she was a
mathematical economics and music double major at Brown University.
