Praised for her “solo work of exceptional quality” by the Boston Globe, Katherine Evans is the principal trumpet of the Newport Symphony in Newport, OR and freelances with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, Turning Point Ensemble, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Pacific Baroque Orchestra and others. She is an active recitalist and was featured on a 2017 recording of Denis Bédard’s compositions on the Chéldar label.
Katherine is a member of One Two, Trio brass trio, along with Jeremy Berkman and Valerie Whitney. She is also a singer in musica intima, which she first joined in 2015.
Katherine holds an M.Mus. in trumpet performance from the Longy School of Music and a B.A. in English and Music from Harvard University. She maintains a trumpet studio at the VSO School of Music and works in development for the Vancouver Youth Choir.
