An award-winning theatre director and vocal coach, Sarah Rose has worked internationally with companies in New York, Toronto, and Vancouver, earning recognition for her joyful and masterful approach to collaborating with artists to deliver confident and creative performances on stage, on screen, and in recording studios. With strong roots in classical music, Sarah brings extensive experience in musical theatre and contemporary popular styles. As a faculty member at the Vancouver Academy of Music S.K. Lee College, Sarah teaches and adjudicates across pre-college, college, and post-graduate programs.
Sarah has received the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center Scholarship, the BroadwayWorld Vancouver Awards for Best Director and Best Play, and the ArtStarts Creative Spark Vancouver Award. Off-Broadway, Sarah served as associate director and music supervisor/vocal director for the musical Very Merry… Live!. Sarah also collaborated on the development of the musical Fall Risk, providing vocal direction for studio recording sessions and directing developmental workshops.
In Canada, Sarah has served as musical dramaturg for the new musical Statistics with Shifting Ground Collective and mentored professional musical theatre creators in the Playwrights Guild of Canada Mentorship Program. Other directing credits include Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Twentysomething, and Happy Days.
Sarah holds teaching certifications from the Institute for Vocal Advancement and the Royal Conservatory of Music, is an alumna of the National Theater Institute (Advanced Directing), and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.
