We are excited to introduce two new string orchestra programs at VAM – Stradivari Players and Amati Players – offering exceptional opportunities for intermediate and advanced students to elevate their musicianship in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
Led by Joseph Elworthy, President & CEO of VAM and Professor & Division Chair of Cello, both ensembles present two distinct programs each year, including a commissioned premiere, two soloists from within the ensemble, and guest artists. Emphasizing collaboration and artistic excellence, both ensembles offer a unique and dynamic performance experience in a supportive environment. Every musician plays an integral role in shaping the collective sound and interpretation, all while refining their skills in a high-quality setting.

What’s New This Season
For 2026/27, Stradivari and Amati Players have been thoughtfully enhanced to support deeper musical development:
- Extended Rehearsal Time – More time each week to refine technique, ensemble precision, and musical interpretation
- Full-Year Rehearsal Schedule – Consistent, uninterrupted progress throughout the season, leading to stronger ensemble cohesion*
- Guest Artist Collaborations: Work closely with acclaimed artists including Mark Fewer and Eliseu Silva
- International Tour Opportunities: Potential participation in upcoming cultural exchange tours (details to be announced)
*Both ensembles rehearse throughout the academic year, with breaks for holidays and statutory closures.

Ages: 9-13 | RCM Level: 7+ (violin/ viola/ cello/ bass)
