RCM Practical Exam Tune-Up and Mock Exam: Piano, Violin, Cello

Class Times: August 2-5, Monday-Friday, 1:00-3:00pm (5 classes)Per Lesson Fee: $37.50 per class
Class Description: Essential exam components will be reviewed in an intensive boot camp that will track progress and preparation culminating in a mock exam in preparation for the RCM August exam session. Areas of focus will include exam repertoire, etudes, technical requirements, sight reading and ear training.

Instructor: Heather BeatyRecommended for: Ages 8+, Suzuki 3+/RCM 4+ (must have completed Musicianship or equivalent on Music Rudiments Placement Test)

Class Description: Learn the basic elements of music notation including pitch, rhythm, scales, intervals, triads, transposition, analysis, and musical terms.
RCM Theory: Intermediate Rudiments
Instructor: Heather BeatyRecommended for: Ages 9+, Suzuki 4+/RCM 5+ (must have completed Basic Rudiments or equivalent on Music Rudiments Placement Test)
Class Times: May 31 - June 28, Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30pm & July 2 - August 3, Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:30-4:00pmPer Lesson Fee: $21.43 $20.00 per class
Class Description: A continuation of Basic Rudiments, including all key signatures, triads, and extended terminology.
RCM Theory: Advanced Rudiments

Class Description: A continuation of Intermediate Rudiments, including cadences, transposition of some orchestral instruments, and melody writing.

Class Description: A continuation of Basic Harmony including modulation, applied dominant and leading-note chords, and structural analysis of larger forms.

Class Description: Advanced chromatic harmony and modulation to remote keys. Contrapuntal two-part writing covered in Counterpoint is extended to create compositions in the Baroque style.

Class Description: Materials learned in Harmony are applied to two-part contrapuntal writing in the style of the Baroque period. Introductory fugal analysis included.

Class Description: Building on the basic analytical skills developed in Rudiments and Harmony, students will explore art song, small and large instrumental forms, the fugal style of J. S. Bach, and important 20th-century compositional techniques.
