An introduction to the study of music history through an overview of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th-Century periods.
Students will investigate the music of the 19th and 20th centuries including Canadian music. Topics include popular music and jazz in addition to traditional Western music.

Students will learn about issues related to teaching beginning students with an emphasis on topics that lend to written discussion and apply the principles in second semester to practical demonstration.
